Ok, who let the retro gamers out? Remember cartridges? Remember waiting hours for the game tape to load? Remember green screen 8-bit graphics?

I’ll confess I never owned a Commodore 64 – I had some other generic thing, an SVX something-or-other, but the games it loaded were seriously legit and all the mates used to come over after school and we would jam till the early hours of the morning.

This was before girls and beer and discos mind you. After that, things got a bit more complicated, the same way consoles have become, these chip-guided things. To my mind nothing beats the cartridge sound of a summer afternoon, and the flashing cursor at the corner of the screen to signal the lift-off of everything good.
